GRANTS PASS, OR - Grants Pass City Councilor Kris Woodburn announced last night that he will be resigning his position on the City Council. The resignation is effective Thursday, July 20th.

Woodburn stated that he has an interest in municipal law and will be applying for the position of Deputy City Attorney. This is a newly created half-time position with an entry salary of $3,590 month. Woodburn said the half-time position would allow him to continue to maintain his private practice.

Woodburn announced his resignation during the regular City Council meeting last night and clearly surprised some people in the room. Woodburn said he had notified the rest of Council earlier this week.

Woodburn's resignation creates a vacancy in the SW Ward 4 position which is up for re-election this November. Local resident Lisa Berger has previously announced she is running for that position.
