Grants Pass web site recognized as one of Oregon's most active blogs in 2006 Blog makes Oregon top ten list for 'most hits'
By TIM BURLESON
GRANTS PASS, OR - A blog created by Craig Anderson has been rated as the tenth most active blog in Oregon, according to a 2006 top ten list released by ORBlogs.com yesterday. ORBlogs.com is a web site that gathers posts and tracks statistics from over one thousand Oregon blogs.
A blog is a user generated website where entries are made in journal style and usually displayed in a reverse chronological order.
Anderson launched the "The Doc Is In" blog in February 2006 and it has been tracked by ORBlogs since March 12, 2006. He describes the blog as "lively." The blog is an assortment of topics and has many categories for posts including tasteful jokes, cartoons, and politics. Anderson's blog was the only Grants Pass web site to make the list.
A retired physician, Anderson's blog also features numerous health-related postings.
The blog also features postings about the Green Bay Packers. "I'm a longtime Green Bay Packer fan," says Anderson.
Anderson says that his goal for the blog is "is to foster discussion and share insights while always remaining respectful of the opinion of others." Visitors to the blog are able to respond to postings with comments of their own.
He says he will not "regurgitate news headlines" that can be found elsewhere, instead focusing on "select editorials of varying persuasion that I find particularly interesting or controversial." He adds that he also looks for "interesting news items that aren’t widely reported, yet interesting, and a few that are just plain silly."
